[Several days after Ras and his beefcake friend arrive, Ain has completed their outfits! Unfortunately he is not aware that Ras has moved out so he patiently waits until he sees him out and about because he missed him in the inn the first time around, and yoinks him into the tailor shop.]
Mr. Floaty! There you are~. I have your clothes for you and your friend ready. Will you try yours on here so I can make any adjustments on the fly?
[He hands Ras two sets of clothing. One is very flowy and in Ain's usual style, except the neckline is more open and not meant to be closed and has extra fabric around the neck to hold it over his shoulders while leaving the chest open. It's very well-thought-out so that it doesn't fall off all the time. The second is simple, masculine, and comes with a jacket that Ain emphasizes "would look good tied around the waist, but it's cold out so probably don't do that".]
Ah, hello. I'm more than happy to - I hadn't realized you worked this quickly. [ Or maybe this isn't fast? Admittedly, Ras doesn't have a concept of how these things are supposed to go. It isn't as though he actually gets clothes tailored for him that often. Regardless, Ras takes the clothes and sets them nearby before he just ??? starts disrobing in the middle of the shop. Help, was there a changing room or something because he is just doing- ]
I worked fast because you and your friend arrived here and needed clothes. I usually have a longer timeline, haha.
[he has not slept. That's normal for him though, he has his brainghost friends to keep him happy and sane :)
Anyway the temptation to stare at ass vs the temptation to be noble... noble wins out in the end because brainghost Raven is yelling at him so—]
Oh, but you should maybe change in the room over there since it's private? [It's a small changing room, Dachie is usually in there playing if he's not in the storeroom.] I'll have to see you slightly undressed anyway if I have to make alterations, but I don't want you to flash anyone looking in the windows.
Ah... apologies. I should have told you it truly was not all that urgent. I hope you did not work yourself too hard for our sakes. I do appreciate it, all the same.
[ Shuffling only half dressed over to the changing room- ]
Of course. Would you rather stay out here while I change...? Admittedly, though I have been fitted before, it was under much different circumstances. I am unaware of your protocols for such things.
Haha, actually... the neck might be weird if you're not used to it, so I can help you and show you how to wear it properly. I hope you don't mind.
[lol get fucked @ vildred hes gonna put his hands on your not-bf before you
Anyway, Ain is shuffling into the back with Ras. There are no windows here. There are more mannequins though, and Dachie is sleeping on top of one he knocked over.
Generally speaking, I had caretakers who would dress me. I had... [ "lots of people around me who believed that raising a hand for small things was blasphemous." ] ...a hard time learning how to do a lot of things that humans seemed to do without thinking. If it is complicated, I likely would need the assistance.
[ Anyway, hi Dachie, sorry for holy boy ass, hope you're having a good day.
Fortunately, Ras knows how to take off his clothes at least. The robes come off easily, but the armor underneath is a little trickier. It takes him a few tries to get his chest cage off.
You can probably stop him from taking his underwear off, though. He doesn't know better. To Ras this is just part of the outfit. ]
Haha, your underwear can stay on. This is just for the pants and a shirt. [And once that's done:] The pants will be easy enough to put on, so here. You can put them on normally like you would with any other pair of pants. I designed them after your flowy ones you have now.
[And once Ras has those on, Ain will do circles around him to make sure they fit everything. Make him sit down and move and don't rip or anything. Make sure they're nice in the butt department, y'know, the things that matter.]
[ He's being so good. He's like weirdly the perfect model. Even if he doesn't know how to put them on himself, he moves and turns and shifts as if he's done this part plenty before. Mostly because he has. ]
The material feels nice. It's certainly looser than my battle attire.
Oh, good, haha. Not too tight, no weird seams, nothing tearing?
[Well that's good! Next step, showing Ras how to put on this shirt. Really it's simple: the arms go in the sleeves like a normal shirt, there are two buttons that close it at the tummy but leave his chest exposed due to how the fabric is shaped, but the neck is the more complex part. There are two wraps of fabric at the collar that get tied loosely around his neck, and a diamond-shaped blue button gets pressed through the holes in both to keep it held in place. This supports the garment without it falling off his back, and is relatively easy to do. Just, y'know, if you're not familiar with clothing you need to be shown, that's all.]
What about this? Raise your arms up high and put them down, and then twist around like this...
"Style"? [ Like how there's different styles of sword fighting...? ] I'm not sure I have one of those...? Maybe... my style is... "fits me" and also... "allows my mana to flow"? In that case, it fits me.
Haha, maybe... but I mean the things you prefer to wear. I guess that does count. My style is big fluffy coats and no sleeves, but I like flowing clothes like this too. [He tugs on Ras' collar.] And my favourite colour is green, and I like flowers and butterflies and birds, and gold accents. Lately, I've been exploring my style a lot. You could do the same~. I don't mind dressing you up.
I cannot say I have a favorite. Though, I did experience the smell of rain for the first time here. Without the smell of smoke diluting it. I liked that.
…I do not believe that can be translated into clothes, however.
Haha, um, I think I can work with the feeling of rain though. But for smells, they make things called perfumes and colognes. I love berry-scented ones in particular, like lychee and stuff. I think lychee is a berry?
[Fruits is berries is fruits is berries...??? Is tomatoes...?]
You might be able to get some cologne that smells like rain.
Should I be keeping track of the things that I like? How do I know if I like something? Why would I have a favorite color if all of them exist within the world to make it beautiful? What sort of things are okay things to like?
[Ain is going to lead Ras out in his new clothes and pack his old ones + his friend's into a bag, and then head out. Dachie can stay asleep in the room for now. He wants to show Ras his perfume and stuff.]
You don't have to track things you like. I think you know if you like something if it makes you feel good. Like, my favourite foods are pastries and cheesecake and cute little desserts, and I know that because I get really happy when I eat them. And I looooove humans and the colour green and flowers and animals. I know that because all of those things make me feel happy.
[He hums.]
Some people don't have a favourite colour. Some people really do love all of them, and I think that's okay. And you can like anything other than... I guess, evil things? Like evil people and... stuff. [thanks ain]
Being "green" means being new to something, unless someone is literally green.
[He explains this succinctly as they travel down the path leading to the tailor shop, off to the other side of the Grove. It's a nice day out, Ain thinks. Perfect for, uh, discussions... about emotions that are hard.]
Um, happiness for me feels like... it tickles in my chest, which you don't have but go with it, and you feel like smiling and laughing a lot. It feels warm, like when someone gives you a hug or you're under a nice blanket. It's kind of like when you feel leaves brushing against your cheeks? [Hm.] You know, nice things like that.
When I'm happy, I just do whatever I want. I go talk to people or play my guitar, or nap under my wisteria trees, or... anything, really. Sometimes I'll treat myself to good food or go buy something from Mr. Shopkeeper because I'm happy. Or I take Dachie to go play, or something. I dunno.
I think if you like something, you're probably happy, at least with whatever it is you like. Sometimes there are exceptions, but those are kind of hard to point out. I like roses, but it makes me unhappy when I get pricked by the thorns. Sometimes I find a green shirt in a store and I don't like it, not because of the colour but maybe because of the shape of the sleeves or the patterning. Stuff like that... it's hard to put it into words, but when you grow into your emotions more, you'll kinda figure stuff out! Some of it, anyway, haha. I don't know everything yet. I've only had them for a few years.
[ Ras listens. He tries to absorb, but as one might expect, it's hard to explain feelings to someone else who doesn't experience them the same. It's like explaining colors to someone who's never seen them, or describing music to someone who's never heard it. He struggles to understand, even if he's technically had these feelings. They're just... not always working like they should.
After a moment, though, Ras will meander off the path Ain is on to go pick up two stray leaves on the ground and just sort of... rubs them against his cheeks?
He's learning. So this is happiness...! ]
...So if I feel something like this, it's something I like?
[Maybe he shouldn't describe emotions as physical sensations, but he doesn't know how else to describe them... they feel physical to him... but maybe that was too specific? Hmm.]
Haha, yeah, I think so. Maybe a little less literal, but it's that kind of tickly nice feeling.
